Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) compliance is a dynamic area where many different elements intersect, including claims and risk management, medical and health issues, legal and privacy considerations, the court system and government agencies. There are also numerous professionals with overlapping roles, including nurses, attorneys, claims adjusters, and structured settlement brokers. Not to mention that we operate in an area of the law that is constantly changing and subject to wide interpretation. As a result, MSP practitioners are bound to face ethical issues and dilemmas.
